Hackathons have become essential collaborative events across scientific and civic communities, helping researchers gain skills and build networks. However, best practices and motivations for hackathons are often limited to specific fields. To bridge this gap, the “Hack the Hackathon” workshop series was launched. The latest, held in Geneva in November 2023, brought together a diverse mix of researchers and practitioners to share insights, explore interdisciplinary collaboration, and develop a broad research agenda. With two key sprints, including one at the UN Library, this event continues to shape the future of hackathon research and practice across multiple domains.
