{"id":143,"date":"2019-07-10T17:52:08","date_gmt":"2019-07-10T17:52:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spikol.io\/?p=143"},"modified":"2019-09-19T11:24:27","modified_gmt":"2019-09-19T11:24:27","slug":"university-of-san-diego-stemwow-camp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/spikol.io\/?p=143","title":{"rendered":"University of San Diego: STEMWoW camp"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p> David Cuartielles and I thrilled to be visiting University of San Diego care of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiego.edu\/soles\/jacobs-institute\/\">Jacobs Institute of Innovation in Education<\/a> Vitaly Popov and Yaoran Lee together with <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/shihjuling\/\">Ju-Ling Shih<\/a> and her team from the National University of Tainan.   University of San Diego has received an NSF grant for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiego.edu\/news\/detail.php?_focus=68059\">STEMWoW<\/a>  to develop and research a program to inspire young people to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields. We are running some design technology pilots with different technologies that include   David&#8217;s new <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dcuartielles\/status\/1148237703156101120\">IR Badges for EDU Research<\/a> that I helped inspire him to make. In addition, we are running a new version of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RMNrC4r1Bxo\">STEAMING the Ships for Great Voyage<\/a> that now takes place around Jupiter&#8217;s Calisto moon. Plus, a lot of MMLA testing using the <a href=\"https:\/\/hcm-lab.de\/projects\/ssi\/\">Social Signal Interpretation Framework (SSI)<\/a> for facial emotion tracking, smiles and the elusive ah-ha moment for learning (flow).
